They’re killing fathers
on their way to work
and I can’t understand
How a waive of retribution
isn’t coming for this land
And on that day of judgement
there’d be people standing by
as another father dies
There’s holes in any logic
that could justify the death
Of someone searching for a home
where they can earn a living rest
Dying for believing
the American Dream
Oh poor and huddled masses,
yearning to be free
They’re killing hopers and dreamers and livers of life
They’re killing brothers and sisters, husbands and wives
They’re killing people for trying to do more than just survive
They’re killing people for seeking a better way of life
They’re shooting mothers
for believing that all people should be free
-It’s happening live,
right in front of you and me-
For defending the rights
of the poor and needy
For speaking up for those
who cannot speak
There’s no moral compass
that can tell you it’s okay
To take somebody’s life
just for driving away
To end somebodies being
just for seeing the truth
And having courage and conviction
to stand up and be the proof
They’re killing hopers and dreamers and livers of life
They’re killing brothers and sisters, husbands and wives
They’re killing people for trying to do more than just survive
They’re killing people for seeking a better way of life
They’re bombing little girls
in foreign lands
they’re blowing up their schools
I think it’s pretty clear that’s not a thing that you should do
I guess some folks forgot
all about the golden rule
Now they can do unto others
and let others do it too
There’s rights for everybody
inalienably
A right to be secure
in our persons and property
from unreasoned search and seizure
but most importantly
A right to life
and a right to liberty
